Abstract

As a result of acylation and ethoxycarbonylation of acetonyl anionic sigma complexes of 5-nitropyrinddine containing a geminal unit in the 6 and 2 positions, we have obtained N(1)-substituted 5-nitro-1,6-dihydropyrimidines and C(5)-substituted pyrimidines respectively.
