Abstract

Furan-2(5H)-ones, an invaluable class of heterocyclic compounds, form part of many natural biologically active substances that exhibit versatile activity and find use in organic synthesis, medicine, pharmacology, and agriculture. The review examines methods of synthesis of furan-2(5H)-ones published over the past two decades.
